Brandon Adams signed his official letter of intent today to play for the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team.
Adams, a 6-feet-7, 220-pound forward, averaged 13.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game as a sophomore at Diablo Valley (Calif.) College last season. He was selected the most valuable player of the Big 8 Conference after leading the Vikings to a 26-8 record.
"We're getting an exceptional student-athlete in Brandon," Hawaii head coach Bob Nash said. "On the court, he's an absolute warrior. He's an incredible athlete and a high-energy guy who never takes a play off. More importantly, he's outstanding person. I'm certain he'll be a fan favorite."
He is the third recruit to sign with the Rainbow Warriors during the "late" signing period.
Forward Petras Balocka and shooting guard Lasha Parghalava signed with UH last week. Both players are from Pensacola (Fla.) Junior College.
The late signing period started on April 16 and will end on May 21.
Hawai'i signed Adam Jespersen — a 6-7 forward from Canada — during the early period in November. The 'Bows also gave a scholarship to point guard Hiram Thompson, who is returning to UH next season after a two-year church mission.
The 'Bows could sign two more players during the late period.
