UH's Daly is WAC Pitcher of the Week

University of Hawai'i pitcher Matt Daly, who pitched 7 2/3 shutout innings in a 4-0 victory over Nevada Sunday, is the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for April 14-20.
Daly, a junior from Yorba Linda, Calif. (Esperanza HS), went 1-0 last week in 8 2/3 innings of work in two appearances, allowing only two hits with seven strikeouts and a 0.00 earned-run average.
Daly had a no-hitter through six innings against Nevada Sunday before giving up a hit in the top of the seventh inning. Daly held the Pack to a .074 batting average in his two appearances.
Fresno State outfielder Steve Detwiler, a sophomore from Forest Knolls, Calif. (San Rafael HS), hit .563 (9-for-16), slugging 1.000 with a .708 on-base percentage and was named WAC Hitter of the Week.
He registered nine runs, nine hits, 11 RBI, a double, six walks, and two home runs as Fresno State went 4-1 last week. In Sunday's win at New Mexico State, Detwiler went 4-for-5 with two runs scored, a double, and six RBIs.
