Tennis: Ferrer, Almagro reach final of Valencia Open

VALENCIA, Spain — Top-seeded David Ferrer rallied to defeat Tommy Robredo 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 today and advance to the final of the Valencia Open.
Ferrer will play Nicolas Almagro, who continued his bid for a third Valencia title by defeating unseeded Evgeny Korolev 6-1, 6-4 in the other semifinal match
Robredo broke Ferrer in the opening and fifth game. Although Ferrer again lost his serve in the opening game of the second set, he took charge by breaking back in the second, fourth and eighth games.
Ferrer, ranked No. 5, took a 3-0 lead in the third set.
Fifth-seeded Almagro recorded his 14th straight win in the tournament.
Korolev, who has never won an ATP title and is ranked 113th, was outpaced in the first set. In the second, he lost only one service game.
