Volunteers are being sought to make lanterns for the annual Memorial Day Lantern Floating festival at Ala Moana Beach.

The ceremony is a cross-cultural event to honor those who have sacrificed their lives in war, pay respect to loved ones who have passed away.

This month, volunteers are constructing lanterns, and others will be needed on the day of the event for transportation, cleanup and recycling .

The Lantern Floating Hawai'i is officiated by the Shinnyo-en.
