Roadwork schedule set for Kauai

The State Department of Transportation has announced the following construction projects on Kaua'i, weather permitting.

KUHIO HIGHWAY

VARIOUS LOCATIONS

Intermittent delays of no more than 15 minutes may be expected in both directions through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. as heavy equipment is positioned during construction activities at the following locations:

  • In Anahola, between Hui Road (near Mile Point 15) and Ko'olau Road (near Mile Point 20) for pavement resurfacing. Completion of this project is anticipated in May.

  • In Wainiha, near the Wainiha Bridges for bridge installation and pavement surfacing work. Completion of this project is anticipated this month.

  • North of Kilauea Town between Kilauea Road and Kalihiwai Road for guardrail repairs and shoulder lane maintenance. Completion of this project is anticipated in May.

  • In Kealia, near the Pili Mai Ke Kai subdivision between Anahola Road and Kukuihale Road for intersection improvements and shoulder maintenance. Completion of this project is anticipated in October.

    KAUMUALII HIGHWAY

    VARIOUS LOCATIONS

    Intermittent delays of no more than 15 minutes may be expected in both directions through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. during construction activities at the following locations:

  • In Lihu'e, near Rice Street for slope stabilization of the hillside adjacent to the highway. Completion of this project is anticipated this month.

  • In Koloa, approximately one mile east of Maluhia Road, near Mile Post 5.7, for shoulder lane improvements. Completion of this project is anticipated in May.

  • In Kalaheo, between Lauoho Road and Hokua Road near the Kalaheo Jelly Factory for drainage and shoulder lane improvements. Completion of this project is anticipated in June 2008.

  • In Kalaheo, near Hokua Road for improvements to acceleration, deceleration and shoulder lanes. Completion of this project is anticipated in June.

    MA'ALO ROAD

    PAVEMENT RESURFACING (Night Work)

    Ma'alo Road will be closed in both directions tonight through Friday morning, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., nightly, for pavement resurfacing. Local traffic will be allowed access to the area.
