It's a big day for Island actress-singer Loretta Ables Sayre, who makes her Broadway musical theater debut tonight in "South Pacific" at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center. She plays Bloody Mary, the Tonkinese hawker of souvenirs, and delivers "Bali Ha'i," one of the hit songs from the Rodgers & Hammerstein score.
Ables Sayre is set to be on NBC's "Today" show sometime between 8:30 and 9 a.m. today, with segments filmed in Hawai'i and New York as she prepped for tonight's premiere. And she earns a mention in this week's Newsweek magazine's feature on the "South Pacific" revival on Broadway after nearly 60 years.

CAREY BEATS ELVIS IN MOST NO. 1 HITS
Elvis Presley, who held the record for the most No. 1 hits in the rock era after the Beatles, has been knocked off his perch by Mariah Carey.
Carey's "Touch My Body" has become her 18th chart-topper, says Billboard, putting her on the list just under the boys from Liverpool, who have 20 No. 1's.
Madonna also has beaten out Elvis for most songs in the top 10. Madonna's new "4 Minutes" is her 37th song to land in the top 10, giving her the most top 10s ever.
