One of two suspects arrested early today on suspicion of causing graffiti damage to 38 city roadside signs was charged with misdemeanor third-degree criminal property damage.

Berdon Tarawo, 23, is being held in lieu of $400 bail for the criminal property damage charge and an outstanding $100 warrant. His initial appearance is tomorrow at District Court.

The primary suspect is a man, 23, who was arrested today at his home on the 900 block of 8th Avenue at 2:05 a.m. for second-degree criminal property damage. Police said the man allegedly admitted to tagging the city signs. Charges were still pending at 9:30 p.m.

The same man faces add-on charges in connection with the private school damage which was still being investigated.

Police said witnesses reported two men using black magic-marker type pens doing graffiti on the wall of a private school at 11:50 p.m. The men left before police arrived but officers looking for the suspects found fresh graffiti on signs along the way to Kaimuki Avenue.

Tarawo, a Palolo resident, was arrested fronting 1648 10th Avenue at 12:59 a.m.
