Advertiser Staff

A man whose body was found on the rocks Thursday at Keawa'ula Bay — also known as Yokohama Bay — was identified yesterday by the Honolulu medical examiner's office as Jermaine Michael Duckworth, 24.

Duckworth, who had no known permanent local address, was arrested Nov. 27 at One'ula Beach Park in 'Ewa as a suspect in an early morning Ma'ili home-invasion robbery on Kula'aupuni Street. He was never charged in the case.

Duckworth had criminal convictions, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records.

Police said four men wearing T-shirts emblazoned with a white "DEA" logo forced their way into the Ma'ili home at 1:48 a.m. on Nov. 27 and robbed six people at gunpoint of cash, jewelry and credit cards. The robbers fled in a black Chevy Blazer on Farrington Highway.

Police stopped four occupants in a Blazer at One'ula Beach Park but arrested only Duckworth, as three others fled.

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT VICTIM IDENTIFIED

The Honolulu medical examiner's office yesterday identified the motorcyclist who died March 18 from injuries suffered in an accident on Date Street in Kapahulu as Dennis John Hogan Jr.

Hogan's identity had to be confirmed by fingerprints. Hogan, 44, died at The Queen's Medical Center about an hour after the 8:41 p.m. accident.

Alcohol intoxication and excessive speed were factors in the crash, officials said.

Police Sgt. Michael Brede said Hogan was riding a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle and tried to pass a Chevrolet sedan on Date Street. The motorcycle clipped a corner of the car and hit a parked car. Hogan was not wearing a helmet, police said.

MAN ALLEGEDLY WIELDED MACHETE

Police arrested a man who allegedly threatened three women with a machete yesterday in Waipahu.

The man, who listed no permanent local address, was arrested for investigation of first-degree terroristic threatening. The three women, ages 37, 45 and 48, were not injured.

BURGLARY SUSPECT APPEARS IN COURT

A Nanakuli woman charged Monday with first-degree burglary made her initial court appearance yesterday.

Noelani U. Laa, 30, is accused of forcibly entering the home of a Wai'anae woman on Sept. 8.

The resident told police her ex-boyfriend, Randy M. Miles, 30, and Laa forced their way into her home. Miles allegedly swung a baseball bat at the resident. No serious injuries were reported.
