Maui Electric restores power to all customers

Electrical power was restored by 8 p.m. to the last pocket of Maui communities affected by today's nearly islandwide outage.
Maui Electric spokesperson Kaui Awai-Dickson said about 500 customers in Makawao and Ha'iku were back on line.
The1 p.m. outage was triggered by a problem at the Kihei substation, Awai-Dickson said. West Maui was the only area not affected by the blackout.
Awai-Dickson said at 5:30 p.m. that power had been restored to all affected areas except Makawao and Ha'iku.
