A personal assistant to Hawai'i businessman and former Advertiser owner Thurston Twigg-Smith has been indicted on charges of stealing more than $329,000 from her employer.

Holly Green, 44, forged or "falsely completed" 46 checks over a 30-month period to pay off personal credit card bills, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Van Marter said in court yesterday morning.

Circuit Judge Derrick Chan issued a warrant for Green's arrest and set bail at $25,000.

Van Marter said Green has no criminal record, but that he asked for the elevated bail amount because of the "substantial" amount of money involved and because the alleged crimes occurred over more than two years. He said Green worked as a personal assistant to both Twigg-Smith and his wife, Sharon. Green had five credit cards and was charging an average of $7,000 per month on them, Van Marter said.
