Kaitlin Kiyan, a 17-year-old Waipahu native, is a member of the tribe in a 40th anniversary production of the love-rock musical "Hair," being staged tonight through Monday at the Delacorte Theatre in New York's Central Park.

Kaitlin, now attending the LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts — the noted "Fame" school, epitomized in film, on TV, and in music — was a Po'okela Award nominee for her 2002 title role in "Oliver," in which she played against gender, at Army Community Theatre.

The "Hair" limited run stars Jonathan Groff of the Tony Award-winning "Spring Awakening" as Claude, and Will Swenson of "110 in the Shade" and "Le Stat," as Berger, in the Public Theatre production, directed by Diane Paulus. "Hair" alumni from the "age of Aquarius" over the past four decades will "let the sunshine in" for the finale each night.

BRITNEY CHARGED IN PARKING OOPS

LOS ANGELES — Singer Britney Spears was charged yesterday with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving a vehicle without a license. She could face up to a year in jail if convicted.

Spears allegedly struck a vehicle Aug. 6 in a Los Angeles parking lot and drove away, authorities said.

"The incident was captured on videotape," said Nick Velasquez, a spokesman for the city attorney's office.

Police investigated after the owner of the car made a complaint. Velasquez said a records check also found that she has no California license.

Spears was sent a letter yesterday informing her of the charges. She is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 10. As the charges are misdemeanors, she won't be required to attend.

CLOONEY CRACKS A RIB IN COLLISION

LOS ANGELES — George Clooney suffered a broken rib in New Jersey yesterday when a car collided with the motorcycle he was riding, his spokesman said.

The 46-year-old was treated at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, N.J., and released, his spokesman Stan Rosenfield said in a statement.

Clooney's passenger, Sarah Larson, suffered a broken foot.

"He's doing fine," Rosenfield said. "He has a broken rib, it's very painful and it'll take a long time to heal."

Clooney's latest film, "Michael Clayton," will be released next month.
