Broken water pipe closes Keolu lanes

Honolulu Board of Water Supply crews yesterday were working to repair a broken water pipe that closed some lanes of Keolu Drive in Kailua.
The break in the 12-inch-diameter pipe was reported at 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of Keolu Drive and 'Alihi Place. The agency brought in a water wagon to serve 36 houses and 50 apartment units affected by the break. The pipe was repaired and water restored to most customers by 10 p.m.
Roadway repairs were to last into the early morning hours.
MAN, 43, STABBED IN WAIALUA AFFRAY
A 43-year-old man was in serious but stable condition at The Queen's Medical Center after being stabbed last night during an argument in Waialua between relatives, police said.
The stabbing at Haona Street was reported at 8 p.m.
The victim was stabbed in the back by a man, 19, who fled before police arrived and who was still at large at 10:30 p.m.
LINGLE PICKS HEAD OF HEALTH AGENCY
Ronald Terry, a hospital executive, has been appointed by Gov. Linda Lingle as the administrator of the State Health Planning and Development Agency.
The agency reviews accessibility and quality issues in healthcare and helps determine the need for more hospitals.
Terry was vice president of heart and vascular systems at Stanford USD Medical Center in South Dakota. He held several previous healthcare positions in Hawai'i, including vice president of hospital operations at Wahiawa General Hospital.
HEARING SET IN SHOOTING INCIDENT
A preliminary hearing is scheduled tomorrow at District Court for a 60-year-old man charged in connection with a drug-related shooting incident last week at a Nanakuli townhouse.
David K. Delima is charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, reckless endangering and a firearm offense instead of attempted second-degree murder, prosecutors said.
Delima is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
No one was injured in the incident last Wednesday on Helelua Street, in which someone fired a shot at the townhouse.
TEEN GIRL SAYS SHE FOUGHT OFF MAN
A teenage girl walking to school yesterday in Mililani reported to police that she fought off a man who tried to force her into a secluded area.
The 7:05 a.m. incident occurred on Anania Drive and Puanani Loop near Mililani High School, police said. The girl was not injured.
The girl told police the man approached her as she was walking to school and initiated a conversation. He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her toward a nearby hedge, but she was able to break his grip and run away, police said.
Police are investigating the case as an attempted kidnapping.
HILTON WINS TOP PARADE FLOAT HONOR
The Hilton Hawaiian Village Spa and Resort won the Grand Sweepstakes Award and Governor's Award in the float competition at Saturday's Aloha Festivals Floral Parade through Waikiki.
Maryknoll High School received the Mayor's Award (second place), the Taiwanese Association of America-Hawai'i Unit took the President's Award (third place) and Island Beauty Productions took the Board of Directors' Award (fourth place).
