NORMAN, Okla. — Since Sam Bradford took over as quarterback, winning sure seems simple for No. 3 Oklahoma.

Bradford threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns, and the Sooners notched their third blowout of the season with a 54-3 rout of Utah State yesterday.

"Nothing's easy at all, but I got in that rhythm early and I did feel I got a lot of confidence that way and saw things very clearly," said Bradford, a redshirt freshman who entered the game as the nation's top-rated passer. "I felt really comfortable today."

Bradford completed his first 11 passes — including two for scores — to reach 21 straight passes without an incompletion. He'd already had a school-record run of 22 straight completions that ended in the Sooners' 51-13 rout of Miami last week.

Malcolm Kelly caught his sixth and seventh touchdown passes of the season and Allen Patrick showed his sprained ankle has fully healed with a 69-yard TD sprint as the Sooners (3-0) of the Big 12 piled it on against the Aggies (0-3) of the Western Athletic Conference.

Oklahoma has won its first three games by 158 points..

Utah State plays at Hawai'i Oct. 6.

NO. 8 CALIFORNIA 42, LOUISIANA TECH 12

BERKELEY, Calif. — Lavelle Hawkins returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, and Justin Forsett ran for 152 yards and three scores in powering the Golden Bears (3-0) of the Pac-10 past the Bulldogs (1-2) of the WAC.

Cal hadn't returned the opening kickoff for a score since Deltha O'Neal did it in the Aloha Bowl in 1996, and hadn't returned any kickoff for a score since 2002.

Louisiana Tech lost to Hawai'i, 45-44, in overtime Sept. 8.

NO. 19 OREGON 52, FRESNO STATE 21

EUGENE, Ore. — Dennis Dixon threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, Jonathan Stewart ran for 165 yards and Mike Bellotti earned his 100th victory with the Pac-10 Ducks (3-0) in a rout of the Bulldogs (1-2) of the WAC.

Stewart scored two touchdowns, including an 88-yarder, as the Ducks outrushed the Bulldogs, 307-60. Fresno State plays at Hawai'i Nov. 10.

NEW MEXICO STATE 29, UTEP 24

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Chase Holbrook threw two of his three touchdown passes to Chris Williams, one going for 82 yards and the other 59, as the Aggies (2-1) of the WAC beat the Miners (1-2) of Conference USA. New Mexico State plays at Hawai'i Oct. 27.

BOISE STATE 24, WYOMING 14

BOISE, Idaho — Taylor Tharp completed 15 of 30 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns, leading the defending WAC champion Broncos (2-1) past the Cowboys (2-1) of the Mountain West Conference. Boise State plays at Hawai'i Nov. 23.

NEVADA 52, NICHOLLS STATE 17

RENO, Nev. — Nick Graziano passed for 236 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Wolf Pack (1-2), which won its home opener after road losses to Nebraska and Northwestern, to an easy victory over the Colonels (2-1). Nevada will host Hawai'i Nov. 16.

STANFORD 37, SAN JOSE STATE 0

STANFORD, Calif. — Toby Gerhart ran for 140 yards and a touchdown, T.C. Ostrander threw two TD passes, and the Cardinal (1-1) of the Pac- 10 dominated the Spartans (0-3) of the WAC for their first shutout since 1996. SJSU will host Hawai'i Oct. 12.

WASHINGTON STATE 45, IDAHO 28

PULLMAN, Wash. — Alex Brink threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns, and Michael Bumpus caught eight passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns as the Pac-10 Cougars (2-1) beat the WAC Vandals (1-2) in the 90th Battle of the Palouse — the schools are located eight miles apart. Hawai'i plays at Idaho Sept. 29.

SAN DIEGO 49, NORTHERN COLORADO 6

SAN DIEGO — Josh Johnson completed 23 of 31 passes for 281 yards and six touchdowns, and also ran for 147 yards in three quarters, leading the Toreros (3-0) over the Bears (0-3) at San Diego. Northern Colorado lost to Hawai'i, 63-6, Sept. 1.
