HILTON GRAND VACATIONS

Daniel Dinell, former executive director of the Hawai'i Community Development Authority and a 15-year veteran of Hilton Hotels, joins Hilton Grand Vacations as managing director for sales and marketing planning. He will oversee long-range regional planning and strategy development, as well as company communications for the region. With HCDA, Dinell oversaw more than $1billion in private-sector investment and the addition of 400 affordable housing units in Kaka'ako.

Other Hilton Grand Vacations appointments include:

Bryan Klum, promoted to senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Asia region, including Japan, Guam.

Sean Harrison, promoted to new vice president of sales and marketing, Hawai'i region, including O'ahu, Big Island and Kaua'i, with continued oversight of sales development and training.

MIKE UCHIDA, promoted to vice president of Japan operations.

Lori Chuba, promoted to senior managing director of sales and marketing for the company's Waikoloa and Kaua'i properties, overseeing on-site sales, marketing and business management.

HAWAI'I CONVENTION CENTER

Three new hires have been announced at the Hawai'i Convention Center:

Wayne Goodwin was named security and guest services manager. A former Honolulu police officer, Goodwin was previously director of security for the Aqua Island Colony Hotel and has served in similar roles at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hawai'i and Ala Moana Hotel.

Helene Fernandez was named catering sales manager. The over 10-year catering and administrative services veteran was previously a catering coordinator at Bally's and at Paris Las Vegas.

Qing Chen was named the China sales representative for the center. Chen is also president for Uniwood Consulting, operator of travel programs and incentive tours.

DURRANT MEDIA FIVE

Architecture and engineering firm Durrant Media Five has hired two intern architects, Chase Kersten and Chris Baze, for its Honolulu staff:

Kersten, who completed his masters of architecture at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, was previously an intern architect for Ultimate Sports Entertainment Inc., where he worked in programming, planning and design for a sports-themed Vegas resort..

Baze, a recent graduate of Virginia Tech, is one of only 11 certified users of the computer-aided drafting program AutoCAD 2007 in the United States. He will work as part of the design team for a mixed-use development in San Francisco.
