ICING ON THE CAKE
LEARN TO CREATE FONDANT MASTERPIECES
Cake specialist Colette Peters will bring her fine art of decoration to Honolulu in a series of two-day master classes. Peters, owner of Colette's Cakes, a specialty cake company in New York, is a frequent guest on "Oprah," the Food Network, CNN, the Discovery Channel and network news shows. She's also created cakes for films, Broadway plays and TV shows. Students can choose projects, all following the same agenda, from three themes: fantasy, trompe l'oeil or all-white designs, and must possess strong fondant skills. Tuition is $500 and includes lunch. Classes are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 19-20, 21-22 and 24-25, in the Y. Hata Test Kitchen, 285 Sand Island Access Road. 847-2210, weiler@yhata.com.
