Graphic artist Jim Phillips did for skateboard art what urethane wheels did for the ride — he revolutionized the look of the skate world, by creating rebellious designs that demanded your attention. Over the course of 50 years, some of the designs by the California artist have become icons of skateboarding. In "Skateboard Art of Jim Phillips" (Schiffer Publishing, $29.95) you'll find his full-color, supercharged, flaming, monster-mad, eyeball-bulging historical look at the fantasy world Phillips created on skateboards, T-shirts, logos and stickers. It's definitely a wild ride.

VITAMINS, MINERALS

REMOVING THE MYSTERY

Ever wondered how zinc works in the body or whether vitamin E will reduce those stretch marks? "Vitamins and Minerals Demystified," by Steve Blake, helps you understand their roles in the daily diet and the body's physiology. Which nutrients are essential to strengthen bones? How can you increase energy and burn more fat?

Blake, who holds degrees in naturopathic medicine and holistic health, will have the answers as part of his presentation and slide show at 7 tonight at the Ala Wai Golf Course clubhouse. The lecture and refreshments are free. 944-8344.
