Kailua's Michael Miyamoto had a perfect Pigskin Picks ballot but not a perfect week.
His favorite college team is Michigan.
"Good thing they weren't on the ballot," he said of the Wolverines, who lost to Appalachian State in what many are calling the biggest upset in college football history.
"I was kind of upset because they were playing a Division I-AA team."
Miyamoto, a 23-year-old warehouse worker and a Kailua High graduate, has been a fan of the Wolverines for about seven years.
"They're always a powerhouse team and I always liked their players ... Charles Woodson, Tom Brady," he said.
Miyamoto's luck was better in the Pigskin Picks game in which he won the first prize of a trip for two to Las Vegas and $500.
His perfect ballot — correctly picking the winners of all 15 games — was randomly selected from among the nearly 300 perfect ballots.
"Wow. I feel really good," he said.
Miyamoto said he's been playing the game for about five years and has been to Las Vegas just once — when he turned 21.
He submitted just two ballots and "didn't think about winning.
"I knew there would be a lot of perfect (ballots). I've had a perfect ballot before (and not won)," he said.
Miyamoto said he based his selections on "the polls and where they (the teams) were ranked."
