Human rights advocate Glenda Wildschut will discuss "The Pain of Injustice: The Promise of Reconciliation," in two lectures at 7 p.m. Oct. 29-30 at Church of the Crossroads.

The commissioner of the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission works with survivors of trauma and torture.

She also will speak at the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Oct. 28 at Church of the Crossroads.

VIEWS ON 'ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY'

The Rev. Eliseo Mercado Jr., an expert on the role of Islam in Southeast Asia and the Philippines, will discuss "Islam and Christianity, Clash or Dialogue?" in a free lecture at 8:45 a.m. today at Star of the Sea parish hall. A free breakfast precedes the talk at 8 a.m.

Mercado is a member of the order of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, based in Cotabato City, Philippines.

REFLECTING ON FAITH, 'ALOHA'

Gregg Kinkley will discuss "Why I Became a Jew" and the Rev. Cloudia Charters will talk about "Aloha, Where You Go?" at this month's Interfaith Open Table.

Kinkley currently serves as a state deputy attorney general and is the chair of the ritual committee at Sof Ma'arav, Hawai'i's only conservative Jewish congregation.

Charters, a novelist and interdenominational minister, was a Charley's Taxi cab owner and driver when she first came to Hawai'i more than 20 years ago.

The interfaith group meets at 7 a.m. Sept. 12 at Temple Emanu-El, 2550 Pali Highway.
