TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Friday Night Lights" season-finale rerun, 7 p.m., NBC. Set in a Texas town obsessed with football, this series has had some slow moments. Not during this stretch, though. You can put these hours with TV's best dramas. One game away from the state title game, the town loses use of its football field. Coach Taylor's solution is fascinating and visually compelling. In the middle hour, Taylor is tempted by a job offer, in the midst of pre-game preparations. That leads into the finale, including the title game. There are powerful human portraits here. The final moments, with Taylor stepping into a maybe-empty locker room, illustrate this show's understated emotion.

Football, 2 p.m., ABC. Yes, there's real football, too. This is of the college variety. ABC's prime-time season starts with Tennessee at California. In the afternoon, look for football on ABC, NBC, ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Sports Network, CSTV, Versus and more.

OF NOTE

"The Untouchables" (1987), 4 and 6:30 p.m., Bravo. Here's a tough, kinetic film, superbly written by David Mamet and directed by Brian De Palma, with Sean Connery winning an Oscar in support.

"Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course" (2002), 4 and 8 p.m., Animal Planet. Critics hated this movie, which starred Steve Irwin. However, the channel is using it in a week focusing on the late Irwin.

"NCIS," 7 p.m., CBS. When a petty officer is killed, the team finds a big obstacle: The chief suspect is being protected by Homeland Security.

"Cold Case," 8 p.m., CBS. Lilly wants an excuse to get away from her mom (Meredith Baxter), who wants her to be maid of honor at her wedding. As a result, she takes a difficult case that goes all the way back to 1929.

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. This rerun is hosted by Scarlett Johansson, who is terrific in the new movie "The Nanny Diaries." Bjork is the musical guest.
