A lecture and demonstration on the art of performing with Japanese taiko drums will be given by expert Kenny Endo at the Wai'anae Public Library at 10 a.m. Nov. 17.

The drums and other percussion instruments of Japan are used in traditional and contemporary music.

The program is appropriate for age 5 and up and is part of the library system's 2007 Children's Book Week celebration, sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Outreach College, the Statewide Cultural Extension Program, and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
