The Jikoen Hongwanji Mission will celebrate Shichi-Go-San with assistance from the University Laboratory School's Kimono Project founder and chairwoman, Jean Sakihara.

Shichi-Go-San, which translates as "seven-five-three," is a festival observed Nov. 15 in Japan that recognizes 3- and 5-year-old boys as well as 3- and 7-year-old girls, celebrating their continued health and prosperity.

The local event, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 3, will offer kimono dressing for girls and haori/hakama dressing for 5-year-old boys at Jikoen Hongwanji Mission.

Donations of $25 will be welcomed.

ST. MICHAEL HOSTS HEALING MASS

A charismatic healing Mass is scheduled for 9 a.m. tomorrow at St. Michael the Archangel Eastern Catholic/Orthodox Church.

The church is offering the service for Orthodox, Catholic, Episcopalian, Lutheran, sacramental, Pentecostal and charismatic worshippers.

St. Michael the Archangel is located at 94-529 Uke'e St. in the Waipio Gentry Business Park across from the Women's Health Center.

FESTIVAL OF HOPE, LIGHT CONTINUES

Hawaii Revival Mission's Festival of Hope and Light continues tonight at the Waikiki Shell.

The free event began Friday and ends tomorrow; it includes 5 p.m. concerts and speakers from Japan and the United States.

Hawaii Revival Mission is a branch of All Japan Revival Mission; it grew out of an outreach held at Koshien baseball stadium in Japan, which in 1993 held the first meeting to be organized, executed and preached by Japanese Christians.

Musicians include Ron Brown, Doc Powell, Makeda, Tim Kepler, Eyvonne Williams and Dwayne "Smitty" Smith. Speakers include Akira Takimoto, Paul Kiichi Ariga, Shuji Hiraoka, Jun Takimoto and Joe Hite.

There will be free shuttle bus service from the Waikiki Shell to Kapi'olani Community College from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
