NEIL SEDAKA, DEC. 9

Tickets are on sale for a pair of concerts by veteran pop hitmaker Neil Sedaka, whose songs include "Calendar Girl," "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen," "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" and "I Must Be Dreaming."

The concerts are at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Hawai'i Theatre. Tickets are $25, $37.50 and $45. 528-0506, www.hawaiitheatre.com.

HISAM'S FIFTH BIRTHDAY

The Hawai'i State Art Museum is celebrating its fifth birthday next month with special First Friday and Second Saturday events and a new exhibit, "uncommon objects."

First Friday, part of the larger open house of Downtown and Chinatown galleries and other venues, is from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 2 and features Kenny Endo and the Taiko Center of the Pacific.

Second Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Nov. 10, includes arts demonstrations, hands-on activities and free birthday cake and ice cream for the first 500 attendees. Entertainment is by Halau Hula Ka No'eau, the Phoenix Dance Chamber, IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre and storyteller James McCarthy.
