Honu and Sharks win in baseball

Shinya Nakayama teamed with relievers Jacob Marceaux and Charles Benoit on a two-hitter as the North Shore Honu beat the West Oahu CaneFires, 5-0, yesterday in a Hawaii Winter Baseball game at Hans L'Orange Park.
Nakayama (2-0) allowed one hit while striking out six in six innings.
Also, Shoji Ohiro and Jason Place each hit two-run homers as the Honolulu Sharks beat the Waikiki BeachBoys, 10-4.

DENG, LI CAPTURE TITLE
Brigham Young-Hawai'i's Maggie Deng and Elwen Li defeated Abilene Christian's Irene Squillaci and Aina Rafolomanantsiatosika, 6-1, 6-2, yesterday to capture the doubles championship of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Tournament at Mobile, Ala.
In singles play, Li defeated top-seeded Suzana Cavalcante of West Florida, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, in the semifinals and will meet second-seeded Johanna Dahlback of Armstrong Atlantic State in today's final.

HILO 6-0 IN PACWEST
Fabiane Seben hammered 19 kills, Laura Rodriguez had 35 digs and Desiree Agader added 61 assists as Hawai'i-Hilo outlasted Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 24-30, 30-26, 17-30, 32-30, 15-10, last night in a Pacific West Conference match at UH Hilo gym.
Josimara Pinheiro added 15 kills for Hilo (15-5, 6-0 PacWest).
Noelle Filimoeatu had 23 kills and Agnes Tuilevuka had 18 kills and 15 digs for BYUH (9-7, 5-3).

Wendy Stratford scored two minutes into overtime as Dixie State (10-3-1, 4-1-1) defeated Hawai'i-Hilo (6-5, 4-1), 2-1, yesterday to hand the Vulcans their first Pacific West Conference loss at St. George, Utah.
