Mesa signs CEO to 3 more years

The parent of go! airline has extended the contract of Jonathan Ornstein, its chief executive officer, by three years.

Mesa Air Group's board of directors yesterday also extended the contracts of chief operating officer Michael Lotz and general counsel Brian Gillman by three years.

"The board of directors strongly believes that given the challenges the company faces today, it was important to demonstrate our support of management and to ensure the continuing services of Jonathan, Mike and Brian," said Dan Altobello, lead director of Mesa's board.


INSURANCE JOURNAL SALUTES AIRMED

AirMed International, an Alabama-based air ambulance service with operations here and in Rochester, Minn., received the Air Ambulance of the Year Award at the 15th annual International Travel Insurance Journal's conference in Venice.

AirMed's Hawai'i operations provide medical transportation between islands, to the Mainland and throughout the world.


PERSIS BUYS 12 CVS STORES FOR $50M

Honolulu-based real estate investment company Persis Corp. has paid $50 million for a portfolio of retail properties in five states.

The firm said it bought 12 CVS/pharmacy stores in California, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Georgia.

The CVS acquisition follows a sale by Persis of a commercial building in Illinois in September for $13 million.

Persis said the acquisition expands its property portfolio to 23 properties in nine Mainland states, with tenants that include Kohl's, Wal-Mart and office users.


OCEANIC ADDING GAY CHANNEL LOGO

Oceanic Time Warner Cable will launch a new gay and lesbian channel from MTV, called Logo, on digital channel 542 on Dec. 1.

Logo will provide news, documentaries, specials and other programming. It initially will launch on O'ahu and Kaua'i and be available to Oceanic digital cable subscribers.

"Oceanic continues to offer programming that will appeal to all different types of audiences in Hawai'i," said Alan Pollock, vice president-marketing at Oceanic. "The addition of Logo will provide programming and topics that are specifically designed to entertain and inform Hawai'i's gay and lesbian community."


A&B TO WEBCAST ITS 2008 OUTLOOK

Alexander & Baldwin Inc. said it will provide its 2008 business outlook during a Nov. 30 conference call that will be available on the Internet.

The Honolulu-based company said a webcast of its call with investors and analysts will be available starting at 9 a.m. Hawai'i time at www.alexanderbaldwin.com.

Alexander & Baldwin owns Matson Navigation Co. and also is involved in real estate and agriculture in the state.


LUSH REOPENS IN WAIKIKI

Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center announced the reopening of its Lush store, a British brand of cosmetics.

The Waikiki store had been closed since Feb. 28, 2006, and reopened this week in its new location on the ground level of Building C. The chain also has a store at Ala Moana Center.

The Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation slated for completion in the first quarter of 2008.
