TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Women's Murder Club," 9 p.m., ABC. For some perverse reason, ABC has been following its best show ("Grey's Anatomy") with one of its worst ("Big Shots"). Tonight, it tries an alternative. "Women's Murder Club," a good show that airs at 8 p.m. Fridays, borrows this slot. Angie Harmon, a strong and subtle actress, stars as a tough cop. She huddles with other women — a medical examiner, an assistant district attorney and a reporter — to solve cases. Tonight, a football player is slain and a colleague wants help. He's played by Jason Sehorn, who happens to be a football commentator, a former all-pro (retired after 10 seasons) and Harmon's husband.

"Rain Man" (1988), 8 p.m., E. This is a strong movie night all over, but few films can match this brilliant classic. Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise are perfect as a savant and his hard-charging brother. The result has a surprising swirl of drama, warmth and humor.

OF NOTE

"Fever Pitch" (2005), 6 p.m., FX. Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore star in a love-amid-baseball film that's especially enjoyable after the Red Sox's latest World Series win.

"Presumed Innocent," 6:30 p.m., Lifetime. Scott Turow's novel has been turned into a smart thriller, with Harrison Ford as a prosecutor who becomes a murder suspect.

"Ugly Betty," 7 p.m., ABC. Mo'Nique plays the magazine's weekend receptionist, who helps Henry with a project for Betty. Meanwhile, Wilhelmina needs new strategy.

"My Name is Earl," 7 p.m., NBC. We kind of doubted Randy would be a good prison guard. His plan of taking the prisoners out for ice cream leads to a jailbreak and a new task for Earl.

"30 Rock," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Jack, a firm Republican, falls for a Democratic congresswoman, played by Edie Falco.

"The Office," 8 p.m., NBC. Jan is suing the company and Michael must give testimony.

"Grey's Anatomy," 8 p.m., ABC. After a school-bus crash, the emergency room is filled with teens. Also, Bailey is treating someone she had a crush on in high school.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. After a tough case, Sara questions her future in the job.

"Without a Trace," 9 p.m., CBS. Shortly after making racial remarks in class, a college student disappears.

"ER," 9 p.m., NBC. Abby continues to have a tough time, but there's good news — Kovac is back. Meanwhile, Gates (John Stamos) is starting his romance with Julia (Reiko Aylesworth, who was so good in "24"), when a phone call changes things.
