"Friday Night Lights," 8 p.m., NBC. Fresh from their championship last season, the Dillon Panthers have swirled with chaos. Their star quarterback and running back had a fistfight on the field. Their other star back went to Mexico with the former quarterback, who wants to try a dangerous procedure to end his paralysis. Fans have been bitter, and Coach Taylor has been lured back to take over the team. He has a big job ahead; this beautifully made series should be especially interesting now.

"Men in Trees," 7 p.m., ABC. This good-hearted show has switched slots with "20/20," hoping to find an audience earlier in the night. Two sweet souls — Patrick and Annie — are supposed to get married soon. They seem to love each other and are huge fans of Marin. As a result, she's both maid of honor and, alas, best man. Now she's planning bachelor and bachelorette parties.

OF NOTE

"Herbie: Fully Loaded" (2005), 5 p.m., TBS; and "Freaky Friday" (2003), 9 p.m., Disney Channel. Now that Halloween is over, channels can return to their primary mission ... which seems to involve running Lindsay Lohan movies incessantly. That's fine with us; we've always felt that Lohan's personal problems shouldn't be confused with the solid work she does onscreen. The 5 p.m. film puts her with a car that has a mind of its own; in the 9 p.m. one, she and her mother (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) swap bodies.

"Next Great American Band," 7 p.m., Fox. We learn which two bands have been eliminated by viewers. The 10 survivors perform and viewers hit the phones again.

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. Professor Payne (Jay Mohr) is dating a woman who seems to be avoiding cameras. That strikes him as odd.

"Beetlejuice" (1988), 8 p.m., ABC Family. OK, the Halloween-type films haven't completely vanished. This is a fun one, nimbly directed by Tim Burton.

"Moonlight," 8 p.m., CBS. Here's more for the crowd that doesn't want Halloween to be over. Tonight, Mick (the good vampire) is searching for a bad vampire who may be linked to a recent death.

"Women's Murder Club," 8 p.m., ABC. There's a probe of a nursing ring that might be the center of a drug ring. Meanwhile, Lindsay Boxer (Angie Harmon), the tough-as-nails divorced cop, reluctantly agrees to go on a date.

"Las Vegas," 9 p.m., NBC. Danny and Mike both saw a stripper being abused. Now Delinda makes it her personal project to improve the treatment of the women.
