Hilea leads Jennie K. by one

Jaclyn Hilea, a Moanalua High graduate, shot a 1-under-par 71 yesterday and has the lead after the first round of the Jennie K. Wilson Invitational at Mid-Pacific Country Club.
Hilea, who won the State Stroke Play crown last year at Mid-Pacific, leads Kristina Merkle, a Moanalua High junior and last year's Jennie K. winner, by one shot.
Nancy Shon and Traci Kashiwabara-Ayabe are tied for third at 77.
The second round of the tournament begins today at 7 a.m. and concludes tomorrow, also with a 7 a.m. start.

UH FOURTH IN FINAL POLL
The University of Hawai'i kept its No. 4 ranking in the final Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 20, released Thursday.
UCLA, which won the national championship, was ranked No. 1, followed by Stanford and Southern California.
The Rainbow Wahine (17-10) finished ahead of No. 5 San Diego State in the poll even though the Aztecs (29-10) were chosen over UH for an at-large berth in the eight-team NCAA tournament. UH beat SDSU twice during the season.

UH'S WEBER HONORED
University of Hawai'i freshman Andreas Weber has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Region Rookie of the Year.
Weber is one of eight finalists for the national award, which will be announced Tuesday in Athens, Ga., the site of the NCAA Individual Championship.
