Kahuku High girls wrestlers competing in Detroit

The Kahuku High girls wrestling team — led by 2007 state champion Danica Auna (125-pound division) — are in Detroit to compete in the United States Girls Wrestling Association National Championships tomorrow and Sunday.
Kahuku, which finished second to Farrington in this year's state championship, is coached by Reggie Torres and associate Jeff Parker.
Competing for national titles are tri-captains Amanda Keliihoomalu, Amanda Soliai and Auna, along with Kalae Johnson, Cianah Hee, Erin Ah Sue and Alana Ieseke.

KAISER BEATS WAIPAHU
Jessica Dusich scored 25 points and Kristyn Mathewson added 16 as host Kaiser beat Waipahu, 65-45, last night for its first O'ahu Interscholastic Association White Division victory.

SEA WARRIORS SWEPT
Maui High alum Vance Otake hit a grand slam in the fourth inning as Sonoma State beat Hawai'i Pacific, 15-1, in the second game of a doubleheader yesterday at Rohnert Park, Calif.
Otake also was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the fifth.
Johnny Gentry, Spencer Omalza and Mark Veneri each had two hits for HPU (17-14).
In the first game, Robert Walden had two RBIs as Sonoma State (27-5) beat the Sea Warriors, 4-2.
Danny Lee batted 3 for 4 for the Sea Warriors.
