University of Hawai'i football season ticket renewals began yesterday, but an announcement of a completed schedule was not part of the package.

Current season ticket holders began receiving their renewals in the mail yesterday, according to UH spokeswoman Lois Manin. She said about 250 deposits also were received for new season tickets.

The Warrior football team is scheduled to play seven of its 13 regular-season games at Aloha Stadium. Two games have yet to be announced.

UH athletics director Herman Frazier had hoped to have the football schedule completed by yesterday's start of the season ticket renewal campaign. But there was no announcement from Frazier yesterday.

The Warriors have a completed Western Athletic Conference schedule and non-conference games against UNLV, Charleston Southern and Washington. Non-conference opponents — one at home and one away — are expected to fill two of three open dates in the schedule.

UH had set a deadline of March 12 for announcing the schedule, but that deadline passed with Frazier saying the opponents asked for "additional time to make final arrangements."

The Warriors were 11-3 last season, including a win over Arizona State in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl.

Renewal payments or new season ticket deposits can be made at UH's Stan Sheriff Center box office or online at hawaiiathletics.com.

In other news, KGMB was awarded rights to UH football coach June Jones' show for the second consecutive season.

The first of 16 shows — an hour-long kickoff special — will be shown at 9 p.m. on Aug. 1.

Jones will host the show with KGMB sports director Liz Chun.
