After sneaking up on some opponents last year during his first season on the varsity, Kaimuki's Keone Reyes was no secret to anyone in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's Eastern Division this year.

But opponents couldn't stop him anyway.

Reyes, a 6-foot, 255-pound senior post, was named OIA East Player of the Year in a recent vote of league coaches.

Reyes averaged 15.6 points per game and was a force on the boards, helping the Bulldogs overcome mid-season struggles to qualify for a league playoff berth. Once in the playoffs, Reyes stepped it up another notch, averaging 18 points in four games and helping Kaimuki win its second straight OIA championship.

Reyes is joined on the OIA East all-star first team by fellow Bulldog Beau Albrechtson, Kalaheo's Cheynne Lishman and Tyler Caswell, and Moanalua's Stevie Austin.

Albrechtson, a 6-4 forward, averaged 16.4 points per game — including a season-high 27 at Kahuku — and was the perfect complement to Reyes by scoring both inside and out, and helping clean the glass with crucial rebounds.

He and Reyes are the only repeat all-star first-team selections.

Lishman, a 6-2 junior wing, was one of the East's top outside shooters and helped Kalaheo win the regular-season title with a 10-2 record. Caswell, a 6-5 senior center, was a steady inside force for the Mustangs.

Austin, a 5-10 junior guard, often put on a dazzling display of open-court dribbling and scoring.

Kailua's Tim Harrison and Moanalua's Greg Tacon shared Coach of the Year honors.

Harrison guided the Surfriders to a surprising 8-4 record and second-place finish in the East, their highest in years.

Tacon, in his first season at the Moanalua helm, led Na Menehune to an 8-4 record — including two victories over Kaimuki — and third-place finish in the East.
