Ex-Hawai'i QB Chang signs with CFL team

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League have signed former University of Hawai'i quarterback Tim Chang, the team announced on its Web site Tuesday.
Hamilton acquired Chang's negotiation rights from the Edmonton Eskimos.
"He is a guy who did incredible things in college and has had success at the professional level," Hamilton general manager Marcel Desjardins said in a statement. "With Tim's addition, the quarterback position is now a position of strength for our team and will help us achieve success.
"After speaking with Tim on the phone, he conveyed that he's very excited at the opportunity to come to Hamilton and of course we're thrilled to have him here."
Chang, listed as 6 feet 2 and 207 pounds, is the NCAA's career leader in passing yards with 17,072.
The Saint Louis School alum has had professional experience with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles, as well as NFL Europa's Rhein Fire.

PETERS TOP PLAYER
Brigham Young-Hawai'i's Michelle "Tuli" Peters, a junior outside hitter, was named Pacific West Conference women's volleyball Player of the Year and BYUH's Wilfred Navalta was named Coach of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday night.
Peters averaged 5.56 kills per game and 3.89 digs per game for the Seasiders (20-1), who lost in the opening round of the NCAA II Pacific Regional.
Dana Edington of Grand Canyon was named Freshman of the Year.

HAWAI'I BEATS PACIFIC
Ryan Hanson-Swanson scored five goals as No. 8 Hawai'i beat Pacific, 18-11, yesterday in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Lisa van Raalte and Brittany Dames each had four goals for the Rainbow Wahine (10-7, 6-2 MPSF).
Kellie Fletcher scored eight goals for the Tigers (5-12, 0-8).
UH hosts No. 3 USC (11-3, 4-1) Saturday in an MPSF match starting at 4 p.m.

KAULUKUKUI SERVICES
Services for Hawai'i sports legend Thomas K. Kaulukukui will be held Tuesday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kane'ohe Stake Center.
Kaulukukui, 94, died March 9. The multisport athlete was the first University of Hawai'i football player to earn All-America honors. Kaulukukui also served 12 years as a trustee for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
Visitation is from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with services from 11 a.m. to noon. A private burial will follow.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kane'ohe Stake Center is at 46-117 Halaulani Street (off Kamehameha Highway, across from King Intermediate School).

LIGHTNING STRIKES HILO
The non-conference game between Hawai'i-Hilo and Arizona yesterday was canceled because of lightning.
It was the final game of the two-game series and will not be made up.
The game was scoreless with two outs in the top of the third inning.
The Vulcans (5-17) host Bradley starting 1 p.m. Saturday at Simmons' Field in Kailua, Kona.
