Punana Leo O Maui, the Hawaiian language immersion pre-school, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. It will stage its annual benefit show, Ho'omau, from 9 a.m. until sunset Saturday at the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens amphitheater. The fundraiser features an all-star lineup headed by Keali'i Reichel, Auntie Genoa Keawe and Kaumakaiwa Lopaka Kanaka'ole. There was a Ho'omau before there was a school, said Punana Leo executive director Kili Namau'u. The first fundraiser, held in 1987, was called Kinohi, which means "the beginning."
