Crash victim was Waimanalo man

A man killed in a single-car crash on the H-1 Freeway Saturday morning has been identified as Sione Tamale, 25, of Waimanalo.
Tamale was one of three men in a blue Volkswagen Jetta that flipped over and crashed in the west-bound lanes near the Makakilo exit about 5:15 a.m.
Police said the car went out of control, hit a utility pole and overturned.
Two of the men were thrown from the vehicle and a third was pinned, police said.
Tamale was pronounced dead, while the two others, a 26-year-old Wai'anae man and a 21-year-old Waikele man, were seriously injured.
It was not clear who had been driving; none of the men had been wearing a seat belt, police said.
PUNA PEDESTRIAN FATALITY IDENTIFIED
A pedestrian who died Saturday after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Friday night in Puna was identified yesterday as Raymond L. Carvalho IV, 34, of Mountain View.
Big Island Traffic Enforcement Unit investigators said Carvalho had been walking north on North Kulani Road at 10:44 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.
Carvalho died at the Hilo Medical Center at 2:38 a.m. Saturday.
Police said they believe Carvalho was struck by a Chevrolet that probably now has a damaged right headlight area.
It was the Big Island's first pedestrian death this year.
MAN ACCUSED OF THREATENING WIFE
Prosecutors yesterday charged a 41-year-old man with kidnap-ping his wife and threatening her with a hammer over a three-day period in Waimanalo.
David Kane Makuakane, no permanent local address, is accused of kidnapping, terroristic threatening and abuse of a family member. He was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Friday at Bellows Beach.
Bail was set at $18,000.
ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN FBI CUSTODY
FBI agents yesterday took custody of two men from the police main station cellblock, charged with robbery.
The suspects were identified as Richard P. Kamai Jr., 40; and Christopher Paul, 29.
WOMAN ARRESTED IN THEFT PROBE FREE
A 38-year-old Makakilo woman, arrested Thursday in connection with a police investigation into thefts of heavy equipment from construction sites and offers to have the machinery returned for payment, has been released pending further investigation.
The woman lives at an Akaula Street address where Vance Grace, 48, was arrested late last month and charged with theft. Grace was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The woman is under investigation for possible extortion and three counts of first-degree theft.
