Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is filming three episodes of "Beyond the Break" on the North Shore to support film production in Hawai'i. The Hollywood actor, who lives on Kaua'i, recently finished the sequel to the Disney Channel's "Johnny Tsunami" in New Zealand; he plays a surfer grandpa in the project, "Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board."

He's also wrapped up his first comedy feature, a ping-pong takeoff on Bruce Lee's "Fists of Fury" — it's called "Balls of Fury."

NANCY KWAN WILL DEBUT MOVIE HERE

Nancy Kwan, who starred in "The World of Suzie Wong" and "Flower Drum Song," will premiere her newest film, "Ray of Sunshine," April 15 at the Hawai'i Theatre. She will attend the benefit for the Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation.

"Sunshine" is about an aspiring young pianist, portrayed by Cheyenne Rushing, who leaves a troubled life in California to search for her musician father (played by John Phillip Law, a former Honolulu resident). Kwan plays a jazz club owner who befriends the pianist.

Kwan co-produced the film with Norbert Meisel.

Nohelani Cypriano and the Beautiful Hawai'i Revue will perform at the 6 p.m. premiere (doors open at 5:30 p.m.).
