Weather delay could help Wie's game

 •  Thunder puts Open on hold

Hawaii's Mark Rolfing, Golf analyst for NBC Sports and The Golf Channel, is at Southern Pines, N.C., site of the 2007 U.S. Women's Open.

I'm still surprised at the power of Michelle Wie.

Driving into Southern Pines, there was a big billboard, (saying) "Welcome to the 2007 U.S. Women's Open" and there was one player with her picture on it.

It wasn't the defending champion (Annika Sorenstam). It wasn't the No. 1 player (Lorena Ochoa). It was Michelle Wie.

(Wie shot an 11-over 82 Thursday. Her round was rained out yesterday.)

Frankly, this weather delay will be good for Michelle. It will give her some time to re-assess her situation, which I think she needs to do. Analyze what's gone wrong and take some positive steps to correct that.

Whenever the second round begins, which will be probably sometime Saturday, I think this will be one of the most important rounds of her career.
