Hannemann stars with celebrities

LOS ANGELES — Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann got to meet some celebrities Sunday and give them awards.
At the annual Conference of Mayors, Hannemann gave out awards that were co-sponsored by Americans for the Arts and the conference.
Singer and musician Randy Jackson, now best known as a judge on "American Idol," got the National Artist Advocacy Award. Actor Jimmy Smits received the National Arts Service Award.
Hannemann is chairman of the conference's committee on tourism, arts, parks, entertainment and sports.
