MORRISEY GUESTS AT UNITY CHURCH

Mary Manin Morrisey will talk about "Authentic Freedom" during the three morning services July 1 at Unity Church of Hawaii, 3608 Diamond Head Circle at Monsarrat Avenue.

A minister and teacher, she founded and for 23 years served as senior minister of the Living Enrichment Center church, and wrote two books, "Building Your Field of Dreams" (adapted into an hourlong PBS special) and "No Less Than Greatness."

SUMMER SESSION OF BUDDHIST STUDY

The Rev. Dr. Shoyo Taniguchi of the Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church in California will head the Buddhist Study Center's annual summer session.

Summer session runs 6 to 9 p.m. July 23-Aug. 2 at the center, across from the University of Hawai'i-Manoa campus. There will also be a satellite session July 28 on Kaua'i. Taniguchi will focus on the principle of causal conditionality; sessions consist of a presentation, discussions and meditation exercises.

INTERFAITH LOOK AT FORGIVENESS

The Interfaith Open Table will hear Masago Asai discuss "Forgiveness — A Buddhist Perspective" at 7 a.m. July 11.

Asai, whose family hails from Nagasaki, is a lay leader at the Palolo Hongwanji Temple.

After her talk, the Rev. Alison Dingley, a founder of the Interfaith Open Table and now interim pastor of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oregon, will share her perspective on forgiveness and reconciliation.

Then Michael North will discuss "Experiential Exercises in Forgiveness," as a coordinator of the Hawaii International Forgiveness Project (set for 5 p.m. Aug. 5 at Central Union Church).

ANNUAL JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES MEET

A Jehovah's Witnesses group begins its annual convention tomorrow, with the theme focusing on Jesus' example.

The convention, which ends Aug. 12, will be at the Jehovah's Witnesses Assembly Hall, 239 Pali'i St. in Mililani Tech Park. Convention sessions will be held on weekends, in the mornings at 9:20 a.m.; and at 1:50 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 1:30 p.m. Sundays.
