Kaneko fourth in girls junior golf

Ayaka Kaneko of Honolulu shot a 6-over-par 76 yesterday to finish fourth at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship at Hiwan Golf Club in Evergreen, Colo.
Jane Rah, of Torrance, Calif., shot a 74 and finished at 7-over 217 for a two-shot victory over Mina Harigae of Monterey, Calif., who shot a 77. Jessica Wallace, of Langley, British Columbia, was third after a 75—220. Kaneko, a Sacred Hearts student, was at 223.
Kimberly Kim, a former Big Island resident now living in Arizona, finished tied for fifth after shooting 76—225.
Maui's Elyse Okada shot a 79 and finished tied for 21st at 234.
The American Junior Golf Association tournament featured 83 junior golfers from 24 states, Canada, Mexico and Japan.
DEMO AT WAIKOLOA
Waikoloa Kings' will hold a Demo Day today, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the practice range. PGA Professionals will be on site to provide tips. There will also be custom club fitting and special pricing, and a live radio broadcast from the range.
The latest equipment from Ping, Titleist, Cobra and Callaway will be featured.

WARRIORS IN JAPAN
University of Hawai'i football assistants Jeff Reinebold and Wes Suan and six former Warriors will participate in the New Era Bowl on July 8 at the Osaka Dome in Japan.
Reinebold (defense) and Suan (offense) will head the White team, which will play a Blue squad headed by California-Berkeley coaches Ken Delgado (defense) and Kevin Daft (offense).
Suiting up for the White team will be former UH players Kila Kamakawiwo'ole, Lono Manners, Hyrum Peters, Derek Faavi, Kainoa Akina and Jeremiah Cockheran. They also will serve as coaches during a week of practice.
The bowl features alumni and coaches from two U.S. teams each year, with the rest of the players coming from more than 50 programs in the Kansai area.
BASEBALL
KAUAI BLANKS OAHU
Three pitchers teamed on a four-hitter and the Kauai Menehunes scored four unearned runs in the second to defeat the Oahu Paddlers, 5-0, yesterday in a Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League opener at Central O'ahu Regional Park.
In other opening-day games, Andrew Hannon singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th as the Waimea Waves beat the Hawaii Aliis, 5-4, and Brian Witowski hit a key double in a five-run fourth that carried the Waikiki Surfers to a 7-2 victory over the Kamuela Paniolos.
TENNIS
LAM LOSES OPENER
After winning the qualifier, Honolulu's Chris Lam fell in the opening round of the main singles draw at the $15,000 Recoating West Futures, in Loomis, Calif. South Africa's Kevin Anderson defeated Lam, 6-3, 6-1.
Lam is seeded fifth in singles qualifying for the $15,000 Trius Technologies Futures in Sacramento, Calif. He plays American Jeremiah Fuller today. The tournament is being played at Natomas Racquet Club.
