The county will begin enforcing a regulation that prohibits non-residential waste disposal at the county landfill of recyclables such as cardboard, steel and green waste.

The regulation is designed to divert recyclable items from the landfill, and the county solid-waste disposal staff has started screening loads brought by commercial haulers.

The county will begin assessing fines for improper loads on July 16.
