New aviation service on way

Castle & Cooke Inc. recently bought the old Circle Rainbow facility off Lagoon Drive and will open an aviation service in the 60,000 square foot building after it invests several million dollars in renovations and modifications.

The operation will provide services such as aircraft fueling, maintenance, and catering for private aircraft as well as provide office space and 20,000 square feet of hangar space for corporate flight, charter and other customers.

The company also leased two lots near the 3.2-acre facility on Kapalulu Place to build additional parking.


T.G.I. FRIDAY'S ON WARD CLOSES

T.G.I. Friday's on Ward Avenue quietly closed on Monday after 26 years.

The restaurant, at the corner of King Street and Ward Avenue, was operated by franchisee Wesco Restaurant Group of Hawaii. Wesco continues to run Hawai'i's other T.G.I. Friday's, in Waikiki.

The T.G.I. Friday's brand is owned by Minneapolis-based Carlson Restaurants Worldwide.


STORAGE, MOVING FIRM IN BUSINESS

A Florida-based storage and moving company has begun service between the Mainland and O'ahu. PODS Enterprises Inc. uses mobile storage containers to relocate residential and business customers, and also offers short- and long-term storage.

The company's storage warehouse is at Campbell Industrial Park in Kapolei.


HAWAIIAN 86.6% FULL IN MAY

Hawaiian Airlines said its flights were 86.6 percent full in May. The state's largest airline said it served a total of 587,017 passengers on its interisland and trans-Pacific flights last month.

Local interisland carrier go! reported that its flights were 63.3 percent full in May. Aloha Airlines does not report its passenger traffic figures.
