STEP IT UP
WALKING EVERY DAY HELPS COUNTER DISABILITY
Having a disability can limit physical activity and increase stress, depression and weight. Walking 30 or more minutes a day may be "just what the doctor ordered" to manage pain and physical limitations and help elevate moods and control weight. (If you have a disability, check with your doctor before beginning a walking program.) It's common to start with a daily walk of 10 minutes, or even less. As you feel more comfortable, increase the time to 20 minutes, then 30 minutes. The most common disability is arthritis, which can be unbearably painful. The best time to walk is when the pain or swelling subsides. After a couple of walks, you will notice how much better you feel. Guaranteed!
