The National Audubon Society has given its top professional award to Diana King, director of the Waimea Valley Audubon Center.
The 13th annual Charles K. Callison Award for Audubon Professional was presented to King last month at the Audubon Global Warming Retreat in Park City, Utah.
King, who opened the center in June 2003, was recognized for her dedication to staff, visitors and the local community.
A press release from the National Audubon Society also cited her skill in coalition building and strategic negotiation, which have been key to the success of the center.
