X-FACTOR JUNE 15

X-Factor, the funk/soul/ blues/hip-hop/rock band formerly of O'ahu and now Los Angeles-based, is coming back for a Honolulu gig June 15 at Ong King Arts Center.

Also performing: Tempo Valley, Paula Fuga, Nadeshiko (Asian bellydance choreographed by Natale Hiratsuka) and Sewa Fare (West African dancing and drums). And there's live painting by Amber Craigo.

Doors open at 9:30 p.m.; show begins at 10 p.m. Admission is $10; for those 21 and older. A portion of the proceeds will go to GiRL Fest, the nonprofit organization that aims to prevent domestic violence against girls and women through arts and education.

UKULELE FESTIVAL JULY 22

Mark your calendars: The 37th annual Starbucks Ukulele Festival is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 22 at the Kapi'olani Park bandstand. It's free.

Among those performing: Herb "Ohta-San" Ohta, Jake Shimabukuro, Holunape, Manoa DNA, Ho'okani Pila (from Hilo), the 800-strong children's ensemble and others from the Mainland and abroad. Danny Kaleikini will be the emcee for the 34th time. 732-3739.
