PUNAHOU HIRES OKIMOTO

Former Mililani High School softball coach Mike Okimoto has been hired as head coach at Punahou, Buffanblu athletic director Tom Holden announced yesterday.

Nishimura resigned, citing scheduling conflicts with the assistant sports information director position she holds at the University of Hawai'i.

Okimoto stepped down as Mililani coach after the Trojans won the 2005 state championship and has been an assistant at St. Francis the past two seasons, helping the Troubadours make their first Division I state tournament appearance in 2006 and capture their first Interscholastic League of Honolulu championship this past season.
