KANE'OHE WETLAND PROJECT — Volunteers needed Aug. 11 to help the Sierra Club clear a wetland of mangrove to create habitat for endangered water birds at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i. Because the base is a secured military facility, volunteers must provide name and Social Security number in advance and bring a signed waiver. Call 955-4168.

POUHALA MARSH RESTORATION — The Hawai'i Nature Center is restoring Pouhala Marsh in Waipahu. Volunteers are needed to pull pickleweed and mangrove 8:30-11:30 a.m. Aug. 18. NATURE CENTER WORKDAYS — Hawai'i Nature Center weekly volunteer workdays are held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays at new location, 2131 Makiki Heights Drive; call 988-8995. Tasks include power-washing trailers, painting, planting.

CHUN'S REEF CLEANUP — Join Adopt-a-Beach Hawaii and Save The Sea Turtles International at noon July 28 for Chun's Reef Beach highway and coastal cleanup.
