Developers and contractors may enter homes in categories including single-family homes, townhouses, high-rises, senior-living units, time-share projects and apartment-to-condo conversions. About 20 projects have been entered to date statewide.
The event, a public open-house tour displaying what residential developers are building around the state, will be held Oct. 6 and 7 and Oct. 13 and 14. The theme is "Discover the Home of Your Dreams."

HELP AVAILABLE FOR HOMEBUYERS
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is encouraging all Hawai'i residents interested in owning a home, refinancing their mortgage or taking steps to avoid foreclosure to contact a local housing counseling agency for advice.
With more than 2,300 HUD-approved counseling centers throughout the country, these community-based facilities can educate homebuyers on how to purchase a home, avoid predatory lenders and assist current homeowners facing possible foreclosure, according to a HUD news release.
