Civic-minded applicants are being sought to fill vacancies on two Big Island county commissions.

The Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Commission has an opening for the council district that includes Waiakea, and the Salary Commission has three vacancies for the council districts that include Keaukaha, Puna and Ka'u.

The Public Access commission identifies lands worthy of preservation, and the Salary Commission reviews pay for county elected and appointed officials.

Applications are available at the mayor's offices in Hilo and Kailua, Kona. Applications are also available at www.hawaii-county.com.
