Former Hilo resident Kimberly Kim shot a final-round 70 to take seventh place at the Rolex Tournament of Champions yesterday. The AJGA's longest-running event was at Ohio State's Scarlet Course in Columbus.

Kim, 15, moved up seven places with her 2-under-par score — the best of the day among the elite girls' invitational field. She had a 72-hole score of 295, finishing 11 shots behind champion Courtney Ellenbogen, from Virginia.

Honolulu's Ayaka Kaneko tied for 17th at 75—302. Kaneko, 17, will be a senior at Sacred Hearts next semester.

CHAN KIM FINISHES FIFTH

Chan Kim, a former Kaimuki High student, shot a 1-over-par 73 yesterday and finished in fifth place in the AJGA Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands Resort Moor course in Harbor Springs, Mich.

Kim, who moved to Arizona this year, finished the three-round tournament at 213.

Kelii Dias, a Kamehameha-Maui student, shot a final-round 78 and finished 96th with a 251 total.

Jae Han Chun of Lisle, Ill., won the boys title after topping Aaron Fitzpatrick of Orlando, Fla., in a playoff after both players finished at 206.

In girls' play, Kelcie Kawano, a Maui High senior, shot a 78 in her final round to finish at 242 and tied for 28th place.

Seo Hee Moon of Mukilteo, Wash., won the girls title at 221.
