UNDER THE SEA
VIEW UNDERWATER BEAUTIES WITHOUT GETTING WET
From an almost abstract close-up shot of a parrotfish in the Red Sea to a ghostly portrait of a scalloped hammerhead in Kane'ohe Bay, marine photographer Jeffrey L. Rotman has assembled photos for each day of the year in "Underwater Eden: 365 Days" (Abrams, $29.95). For today — day 186 — you get a cool composition of a chiton clinging to a lavender rock in the North Atlantic, off of Gloucester, Mass. Divers and book browsers alike will find plenty to look at.

FINAL WORD
"We will not be ending with a blackout. ... Our hope is that the ending will be ... the logical conclusion of the story."
Carlton Cuse | the "Lost" creator/executive producer referring to "The Sopranos" finale, at the Promax/BDA conference. "Lost" will conclude in spring 2010.
