Author Jerrilyn Farmer will discuss mystery novel writing at the Mililani Public Library at 6:30 p.m. July 9 as part of the state library system's "Delicious Murders: Mystery Writing 101" special adult summer program.

Farmer, the author of seven award-winning Madeline Bean novels, will share basics of writing a mystery novel during the free one-hour program. The program is suitable for ages 12 and up.

Farmer, of Southern California, also teaches mystery writing at the University of California-Los Angeles Extension Writers' Program and has written for TV shows and comedy specials.
